Your Trees and Shrubs Need Care Too!
Trees and shrubs are an important and valuable feature in any landscape.
It takes years for a tree to become an established feature in your
landscape, and only a few dollars a year to protect it.
Regular maintenance pruning and fertilizing is necessary to ensure
that your trees and shrubs are healthy.
Tree care, like lawn care, is an ongoing process including proper
watering to keep the soil cool and moist, pruning to prevent
branches from damaging each other in the wind and to remove dead wood,
and fertilizing to replace nutrients consumed by the tree and lawn.
A well maintained tree, like a well maintained lawn, needs little or
no pesticides. This ecology friendly approach to tree care is in keeping
with Nutri-Lawn's goal to reduce the use of pesticides.
Protect your investment in your trees and shrubs with our Tree & Shrub
Care Programs.
Deep Root Tree Fertilizing Program
Healthier trees and shrubs that
are better able to resist insect and disease damage without the
aid of pesticides. To ensure healthy, robust trees and shrubs we
offer our deep root tree fertilization programs.
Twice a year, in spring
and fall, we inject liquid fertilizer 6 inches below the surface
of the soil every two feet under the canopy of the tree where
it can be easily absorbed by the roots.
Our program divides the required 3 pounds of nitrogen per season
into two equal treatments applied once in spring and once in fall.
Nitrogen leaches away quickly in the soil depending on weather
conditions, hence, dividing the fertilizing into two treatments
ensures proper usage of nutrients.
The Spring Fertilizer Treatment
The spring treatment adds nutrients to the soil that can be used by
the tree during the spring start up and for the rest of the growing
season. It promotes growth and adds strength to the tree, and keeps
your tree healthy and resistant to damage from disease and insects.
The Fall Fertilizer Treatment
The fall treatment adds the nutrients needed by the tree for root
development which occurs in the fall after the tree is dormant and
the leaves are falling until the ground freezes up. This root development
gives your tree better access to water through its tap roots, and better
access to natural nutrients through its fibrous root system.
Pruning Services
Different kinds of trees and shrubs have different "best times" to
prune, but, for most trees and shrubs, the best time is when the leaves
are off and the plant is dormant during the winter.
