Sarritor is a natural product that is used to suppress and manage existing weeds. The active component of the product is Sclerotinia minor, a naturally occurring fungus that is native to Canada. When the granular product is applied to a broadleaf weed, the fungus is activated by moisture and temperatures between 18 – 24 celsius. The fungus then grows into the weed and absorbs the plant tissues until the weed is completely gone. Once the weed is gone, the fungus dies and no residuals are left.
This product was developed by a company called ' Sarritor' and has been registered by Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) as a weed suppressant. Sarritor is a naturally occurring fungus that is native to Canada that is capable of eliminating weeds in about a week.
The two pictures illustrate how Sarritor effectively kills existing weeds. The granular product is first applied to the center of the rossete type weed. If environmental conditions are ideal, within a couple days white mycellium begins to form on the weed. During this process the fungus attacks the weed and grows into it. In these pictures a dandelion has been treated and effectively controlled.
